anesthesia. We perform routine preventative procedures such as spays, neuters and cat declaws. In addition we perform dermal, ocular, gastrointestinal, genitourinary and orthopedic surgery. For complicated procedures requiring board certified expertise we work with ambulatory surgeons who can perform the procedures here or we can refer the patient to surgeons in Frederick or the Washington and Baltimore area. |

| Dentistry Services |
|
We recognize that dental disease is one of the most common problems we see in our patients. Preventative dental care is encouraged through home care recommendations. In spite, of home care, many animals require dental care such as cleaning or extractions. We offer general dentistry services including dental x-rays for assessing tooth health below the gum line. We perform dental prophylaxis using hand scaling along with ultrasonic scaling. We have a high speed dental unit to perform extractions |
|
in a minimally invasive manner. Anesthesia is monitored while performing dental procedures in the same way as during a surgical procedure. Following the procedure, additional recommendations for home care are provided such as brushing, dental chews, and prescription dental diets. |

| Grooming |
|
We offer grooming through an independent groomer that works in our facility. This arrangement works well in that if an animal requires additional restraint or in some cases sedation, it is done under the care of a veterinarian. In addition, routine appointments can sometimes be scheduled while the pet is here for grooming, saving you an additional trip. We also provide a self bathing facility for the "do it yourself " pet groomer. (However, no clipping is permitted in this area) This area includes tubs with ramps for large dogs, blow driers, aprons and towels. You can bring your own shampoo and conditioner or purchase them from us. The cost for using this facility is $10.00 per animal. |

| Boarding |
|
We provide boarding for our regular clients only. We provide runs and cages for dogs as well as cages for cats in a separate room. Cats can be provided a "cat condo" for roomier accommodations for a slightly higher fee. The cat room has a large picture window with an outside bird feeder to provide additional entertainment! We provide bedding for your pet so you don't have to bring yours. The dogs are allowed to exercise in a grass fenced area behind our clinic while the technicians clean the cage or run. We feed a high quality |

| Diagnostic Imaging |
Survey and contrast radiographs can be taken as needed for diagnostic purposes. Our trained staff can take radiographs to evaluate your pet for illness or injury as well as special films needed for breeding certification purposes. Some imaging procedures do require sedation or general anesthesia to obtain an adequate diagnostic image. The veterinarian will alert you prior to the procedure.
We also offer in-house abdominal ultrasounds performed by our doctors. This procedure usually requires dropping your pet off in the morning and can typically be performed without needing to sedate your pet. We can also prepare the ultrasound images for later referral to specialists.
Other forms of diagnostic imaging available are ultrasound and endoscopy, performed by an ambulatory board certified radiologist. These procedures are also available by referral to a nearby facility that provides an internal medicine specialist.
